Epano Sisi 1

Built the way the village was built.

A small building of five apartments set into the hillside of Epano Sisi, where the olive groves give way to the sea. Each home is oriented for shade in August and light in February, with a deep terrace that does most of the living.

The architecture borrows from what is already here: local limestone, hand-finished lime plaster, oak shutters, and flat roofs that carry the eye out to the water. Nothing is imported that Crete already does better.

Rooms are planned around cross-breezes rather than air conditioning, and every residence opens along its full width onto a pergola-shaded terrace. The result is a home you can leave open from April to October.
